Im doing the exact opposite. Im introducing objectivity into the assessment by suggesting there should be a certain level of expectation per round. i fail to see how that is an excuse. its called a performance based measurement system. feel fee to look it up.
in fact, i see being content with a player such as kendricks as a high second round pick as an "excuse" for poor drafting as his draft status did not meet imo his on field performance. in an ideal world, we would make this assessment quantitatively. But since i have a real job and no one is currently paying me to set up the system we will have to live with our opinions as to whether a certain player meets these expectations.

I don't expect the same out of a 1st rounder as a I do a 7th...speaking of hyperbole.
I just don't care that a solid role player --like Conwell, Holcombe (99 FB ), Wilcher, Waddy, Kendricks etc--was a 2nd rounder.
And I have to say that to me, caring about that sounds like an excuse not to be objective about the player.
Teams need solid role players. One of the reasons Jackson could run as well as he did in 2011 and 2012, with all the OL injuries and with him getting older (8th and 9th years) is because LK was such a versatile blocker and good H-back type (lining up inline, out, and in the backfield, yet run blocking effectively from every spot).
I save the kinds of complaints you're making for guys like Avery, Leonard, Klopfenstein, Travis Fisher, Shepherd, Polley, and Quick etc...actual busts.
