Draft Gurley, then come back in the 3rd and draft David Johnson for all I care. Heck come back in 16 and draft Zek Eliott. Thats up to you.
I will re-state my point 1 last time.. For every year you have a stud RB, but do not have a franchise QB, you are wasting 1 year of that RBs prime. If you never get your franchise QB, then the pick you used on a stud RB was a complete waste of a pick and you just as well could have drafted a punter in the 1st round.
And it wasn't if Fisher wasn't trying. He had Bradford, who he stuck with until he was proven to be unreliable, health-wise. Then he traded for Foles and immediately signed to a 2 year extension, for Foles to turn into a pumpkin. Then they traded the farm for Goff, but by then it was too late.
RBs that are good enough to help get you to the playoffs are a dime a dozen. There is no need to spend a 1st round pick on them. Now, has Gurley been sensational? Yep. Will he again? I hope so, but you never know. Did Fisher waste the first few years of his career on bad teams that even his talent couldn't help? yes he did.
One last thing, if you are staying true to your Best Player Available draft board and a RB is by far and away the top talent left, by all means grab him. I'm pretty sure that is what Fisher and Snead did. And I have never had a problem with the Gurley pick other then myself and a few other guys (I want to say PB59) really liked David Johnson out of Northern Iowa that year and were more then concerned about Gurley's knees. Heck, his knees were the only reason he was available at #10.
BTW, unless Daniel Jones is a HR pick for the Giants, Saquon Barkley will wallow on an average at best team until he and his considerable talent is all used up.
