I feel fine about not drafting and edge. We had other pressing issues far more important like OL depth when we had none, another DL for the rotation and we got one in Gaines but need another DT like Brockers to work in the mix. Now it looks like we gotta go out and sign someone because I show 6 bodies on the roster when we will carry 6 or 7 on the regular season roster.
We need to develop all the edge guys we drafted from last year, we are full up. Unless one of the top tier guys dropped to us like sweat or burns I could see that. But to burn another pick on an edge when every pick we had needed to make this roster. We are managing the cap now and need to pay our QB soon and with the Gurley contract just have to many needs that need to be paid cheap. I thought we did great.
We got a much needed corner to develop when the cupboard will be bare next season with expiring contracts. And obviously we felt the need to draft another RB because they know much more about the Gurley situation than any of us. I trust their judgement completely as I think we all do for the most part.
ILB we are short as well and I was hoping we would get a cameron smith or Okereke as a backup. But didn't work out that way. Maybe the kid in the 7th makes the team. But I think right now we need to sign another FA ILB and DT to compete for roster spots in July. Maybe we can get Ramik Wilson and Ethan Westbrooks back on the cheap.
