it's not possible to assume too much for 2019. Actually, the Rams are in the drivers seat on Goff much like they were for Donald.
This will all come down to how they can manage the cap over the next two seasons. If extending Goff in 2019 jeopardizes the "run" we anticipate for the next few years, I can see them picking up Goff's fifth year option...IF...it keeps cap room open.
I expect them to extend Goff. But, this season means a lot. If he progresses and even produces like 2018, not doubt he is going into the $30 million plus club. If he regresses, he won't.
This is why I'm liking getting veterans at a good price. We have proven talent on the field and they aren't breaking the cap bank.
I'm expecting to see the Rams draft a cornerback by day 2. It benefits two ways. He can help in 2019 and it helps deal with the situation that will present itself for Peters and Talib in 2020.
