That is a lot of projections.
I don't see a Higbee trade unless it was something more valuable than a late round pick.
Brockers trade seems plausible but would they really trade him and not resign Suh?
I think Hankins at DT is the type of bargain FA the will would like to sign
I do think they will try and upgrade the edge with FA $$ and Houston/Barr or resigning Fowler are all options
I don't think they will spend big a ML but will play Kiser
Backup QB I think comes from the Draft to compete with Allen
I think they sign an OL in FA but maybe only a backup. Agree Noteboom starts at LG if Safford is not resigned
I do think they will sign a FA safety as there is great supply so prices may be reasonable.
Love the idea of drafting Simmons who may be gone even with injury. I think if the right deal is there Les will trade down. Depending on how deep they think the draft is they may go lower than 38 so they can pick up another 3 & 4.
The only way I see a rookie starting is if they draft an edge in round 1 and do not sign a FA.
Anyway great work and thanks for the later round names in the draft.
A Higbee trade is not a must in the plan. His salary at $2M is affordable. I just get the feeling that McVay is looking for more at TE. I think some of that will happen naturally with more Everett but new blood might be in the works too.
Signing a vet NT like Hankins that's good against the run was the key to trading Brockers. Brock is good against the run but that's all he's been good at since Wade took over. JFM was actually a superior pass rusher in his rookie season no less. So if you get a good run defending NT (those don't usually cost a ton) and put JFM at DE, you may actually get better pass rushing without sacrificing run defense.
Suh wasn't really at home at NT either. So between he and Brock you have a lot of talent but I don't know that is was maximized or efficient this last year. Hence the new DL coach.
At MLB, they may lean on Kiser. I'm slightly skeptical. I definitely don't think they will or should spend big which I define as the $10M range. I could see a modest $6M expense for that. (At least I could prior to the Weddle signing.)
Very good call on the free agent FS.
On Simmons, most projections and mocks I'm seeing have him sliding into the 40-50 range. That feels about right for someone who is supremely talented but comes with a major injury and some prior off the field baggage. I do think he plays some this next year wherever he lands.
IMO, it's looking more likely that a drafted edge will be the position where a rookie starts.
Thanks for the feedback!
