Why draft a guy to redshirt if you don't plan to start him later?
Besides that, I have to keep saying this ... he played every snap for Virginia for four years. A year off likely helped his body recover from the punishing hits he put out. He was one of the few LBs in the ACC who knocked people to the ground when he hit them.
Don't you think if he earned playing time he would have gotten it? It's not like they truly redshirted him.
