I want a TE...even an average TE is better than no TE.
Higbee is at best a backup...
Everett doesn't have the goods to be a middle of field TE...to small...not physical and this Everett is progressing talk is pbbbttt!
We don't have a starting caliber TE on this roster...none.
But 43, I'm not requesting a Kittle. They only way to get that is hit the lotto in the draft.
Drafting undersized small school players doesn't help in year 1. Drafting a large, Power 5 conference guy gives you a chance for impact in year 1.
I knew the "you want a Kittle, Gronk, Kelce, Ertz" line of debate would arise. I've tried to state that is not my expectations...although it would be awesome.
No one on this board can convince me otherwise...if Goff had a good TE target we would be better off...because we would open up 1/3 of the field we do not exploit, create additional strategic options...even at the expense of 1 less WR. The Patriots are the geniuses at it. The GSOT got away with it because they had stud fearless fast and HOF players in Bruce and Holt. Well...we don't have that...not even close.
Goff needs a TE...he isn't going to reach his potential until he has one. In big games, he has big struggles.
we have got to be watching different games....
Everett is plenty big and tough..and he's shown it this season...
he came up with 2 of the bigger plays we had this year....
the guy who adjusted his route and got the ball downfield against the Saints during our biggest drive of the year doesn't have the size or the toughness???
come on man....
you're giving McVay a pass assuming that the lack of utilization is because of a shortcoming in the players....when the players..when given the chance are SHOWING that they have what it takes....
the fact that they aren't being utilized is because our coach isn't utilizing them.... Look at the numbers...we ran the same formation on a higher percentage of plays than most teams in the league.... we went a long way with it, but when it counted in the Super Bowl...we were limited....
We have the weapons....we have 2 big athletic TEs who can stretch the field and make plays down the middle of the field NOW..
we need to use them
