This isn't a government conspiracy folks; it's sports. Being hurt is sometimes a part of the game.
Example:
I ran cross country last Fall with my running team and aggravated an existing, very small meniscus tear in our third meet. I didn't even feel it until two days later when I woke up and could barely walk. It was terrible for two days but I was able to return to full practice by the end of the week. Our meets were every other weekend so that became my cycle for the season:
Race (below par), take two days off, practice lightly on day three, practice fully Saturday through Wednesday, taper, then repeat.
My performance deteriorated to the point that I didn't run very well at the regional meet, but at no point would I have said that I was injured. The only thing that cured it was being able to reduce my training load after the season. I never needed a medical procedure.
