Clearly, the opportunity was there. Our D was valiant, and Brady was a bit off.
The head scratcher for me was how McVay didn’t anticipate things that were actually said by guys like Lombardi and some other media guys. They said Goff does better against man coverage so expect Pats to run more zone. They also said Pats don’t respect Rams interior OL especially Blythe. All that was a problem.
I heard Bill Polian say before the game that the Rams only had 2 guys, Woods and Cooks, and that’s easy for Belichik to do. I thought it was a no brained that McVay needed a game plan to utilize Reynolds. But it never materialized.
Without Gurley in the passing game McVay was easy prey for BB.
There were no surprises here to me, except McVay not anticipating what guys in the media knew.
