I know, guys, this thing has been done to death already.
But I have the kind of mind that likes to line things out for the sake of clarity.
So I'm going to do that, and maybe there are one or two of you out there like me.
These are all the different positions I've seen. There are different rationales and levels of intensity.
Pro-Saints.
1. It was a conspiracy by the NFL to put the Rams in the Superbowl - Saints deserved to win.
2. Some of the refs were from somewhere near LA, and were biased on this non-call - Saints deserved to win.
3. This one no-call was much more crucial than any other call in the game, and much more certainly determined the outcome - Saints deserved to win.
4. It was an egregiously bad no-call - what a shame to have the NFCC tarnished by this. Rams should have their outcome asterisked.
5. It was an egregiously bad no-call. It's too bad for Saints fans, but that's just the way life goes sometimes.
Pro-Rams
1. It sure looked like a bad no-call, but every game has bad calls. Get over it.
2. It was a bad call, but so were a lot of other calls in the game. Get over it.
3. It was a bang-bang call in a game where they "let the players play". Get over it.
4. It was an uncatchable ball, therefore PI shouldn't even have been called. Nothing to get over.
5. The Saints committed just as many or more uncalled penalties. They've got nothing to complain about.
6. It may have been a bad call, but the Rams have been screwed by bad calls in the past, too. It all evens out, get over it.
7. How dare the bounty-gate team complain about something like this?!!
8. No matter how bad the call was, the Saints had plenty of opportunity before and after the no-call to win this and didn't get it done.
9. The Rams had over twice as many penalties and yards called against them. What are the Saints complaining about?
And now, after much consideration, I have selected my position on this:
Whatever sympathy I might have been tempted to feel for the Saints has been entirely overwhelmed and subsumed by their incessant whining, crying, and now litigating over this, not only by fans, Coach Payton and some players, but also now by the owner. I no longer care if it was a bad no-call, in fact
I hope that it was. May they never recover from this and may the bile rise in their throats every time they attempt to watch a football game!
Ramily!
