Why would they want to lose and be judged negatively for next year's contracts, or replaced by a hot shot high draft pick?
Shanahan was more secure than Wilks, and they did the right thing by not playing some injured guys in a late season game, but I have no doubt he wanted to beat McVay. These guys have egos.
