Reynolds and Everett would both be good options, and they are each coming forward.
And you know a medium-sized guy who can run good routes can get himself available on those. Kupp can do it, and I think Woods can, too. Ike was great at stuff like that and he was not a monster.
I really think it's a commitment to a scheme that refuses to change formations and forces DCs to deal with that.
But, teams adjust as always. Eventually, I think McV will have to diversify his approach.
Maybe it's about trust. I just think it's interesting that McVay did run that last year with a strong WR.
Reynolds and Everett may be good options but they're both young...and not necessarily that strong.
I agree that Kupp and Woods could likely do it...Maybe McVay had Watkins do it because, based on his time in Buffalo, that was already a established part of his skill set.
I also don't know that a scheme involving tight formations is precluded from running quick slants.
