I originally thought, in my mind, the Franchise tag would be a good option for Suh. It would be a raise from this year, but it would be a one year deal. And if he was a Ram for two years total and then we got a third-fifth round comp pick when he left it would seem like a good deal. They could Franchise him twice and have him for three years. He seemed more tag worthy than Joyner to my eyes. Suh is extremely durable. It seems to me he plays the run extremely well and gives a power pass rush. I like his power game on the defensive line. I did not know about a long-term deal given that he will be 32 this offseason. If he is interesting and willing to sign a two-three year deal that makes sense. I wondered if LA was appealing to him as a vehicle. Could he get some Shaq like movie cameos/bit parts if he is well known, well liked in LA? I have no idea if that is on his mind. But I could see him as playing himself as a character in commercials for
the General Car Insurance.
With recent changes, now my pie in the sky absolute pipedream is that Fowler plays so well the Franchise tag is used to hang onto him while a long-term deal is being negotiated. He would have to demonstrate a lot on and off the field to earn the Franchise Tag given he was not even a starter with the Jaguars. I am hoping he is more of quick twitch player than Suh at this stage of his career. But maybe all of that dream is just unrealistic. Maybe he comes in gives the Rams 3-4 sacks in the regular season and 1-2 more in the playoffs signs with another team and the Rams get their 3 back eventually. Maybe he gets two sacks, gets feisty with an O-lineman or two in practice, throws some overly helpful driving critic's liquor bottle into a lake and then no Franchise tag, no 3rd comp, just a 5 coming back. If that is the case and Saffold plays well do you consider using it on Saffold rather than Suh?
