I just think if he is worth bringing in at all then he is worth keeping around for 2019 too. How, I am not sure. But to me it is much more worth the 3rd if you get 1.5 seasons for him vs 0.5. And as far as the comp pick, 3rd rounders are for players that sign the $15-18M deals, like Trumaine Johnson and Watkins did. They very well may get a comp pick if he leaves (also depends on who they sign next spring) but if so it is probably more like a 5th, which cancels out the 5th they are giving up.
But still, to me unless he plays lights out and helps lead them to the promised land in February and really does net them a 2020 3rd or 4th round comp pick I am still not on board with this. Very much hope I am looking at it wrong.
