Mistakes, misreads, can and will happen.
In this case it's some calls that showed lack of situational awareness.
Those are the exact words McV uses to describe it.
That's not just a mistake, it's something he should fix.He thinks so anyway.
And he probably will.
...
Something he should fix?? lol Name me one coach who calls a perfect game every time! I'll wait. Not even the great Bill Belicheat is perfect. Not Bill Walsh, Not Don Shula (who coached a undefeated team to the S
was perfect in his play calls.
IMO, McVay has not shown his "situational awareness" to be a chronic or repetitive issue. Not sure anyone would think it is an issue until otherwise proven. IMO, this whole subject is silly. In think people are looking for an issue where isn't one.
It's not a matter of the perfect game. That's just one big strawman.
He himself declares he could use a better sense of situational awareness, based on moments in that game. As well he should. It was visible, it showed, he owned up to it, and he can fix it precisely because he does own up to it.
I am proud of him for doing that. Means one of the first things you do if you want to keep growing as a coach is to look for problems where there are ones. It's one of the things that will make him great, and you;re missing it.
Anyway the "perfect game" thing is a straw man, as I said. Either way, if you can find me another time where McV went off for 600 words on a problem in his own playcalling he himself says he has to fix, and maybe then it will look like he just makes stuff up or exaggerates
And I'm done. Post away. And (said in real sincerity) go Rams, my friend.
