Rampage2K-

remember when we couldn't find ONE WR since Holt left ?

Mark Clayton was good. He just got injured, is all.

Amendola was good. He was just confined to a specific role.

You’re reaching there, zn.

Both were nice WR’s, but neither compare in effectiveness to any one of this current trio, IMO.

Yes, Clayton compares to Woods.

Did you watch him?

They're actually very similar.

I don't know why people would underestimate him in retrospect---we knew better at the time.

And I speak as one of the few who said when they signed Woods that he had the makings of being a #1 WR, even though the circumstances in Buffalo kind of kept that low key.

In 2010 if he had played all 16 at the same rate Clayton would have had around 88 catches for around 1200 yards. That's with a rookie qb and a Shurmur ball control offense.

2010 would have been a better year if they had not lost him.

I don't know why you said I inflated Amendola when I said he was a role player. Slot guy in the mold of Welker, with 63 receptions in 2012 in spite of missing 5 games. He was good at that role.

I think in their prime either one would fit the 2018 offense.

I loved Clayton. After all, I’m a big Sooner fan. Lol.

I also loved Amendola. Who didn’t? Such courage and determination.

But Cooks, Woods, and Kupp are ranked 5th, 7th, and 9th in the LEAGUE through 5 games. They’re playing at elite level and I’m not choosing that word lightly. Not sure that such a trio has been seen before. Even in the GSOT days there was a big drop off after Holt and Bruce.

I would describe Clayton and Amendola as “very good”. But Cooks, Woods, and Kupp? Elite, IMO.

Our current 3 also don't compare to Bruce and Holt. I take them as being a notch down from the GSOT receivers. Bruce in this offense would be eating the league up like candy.

All 3 of our current WRs are very good. But they are in a perfect storm. This OL is playing at a lights out level, Gurley can run anywhere (outside or inside), Goff coming into his own in year 3, and the play design takes maximum advantage of 2018's "all offense and explosive scoring" style new NFL.

My bet is that if you had Clayton and DA on this team subbing for say Woods and Kupp that the numbers would just be no different.

The question was, did the Rams have any WRs between Holt and 2017/18? And I think they had 2.

It really is a fair answer. Both come with qualifiers and asterisks, like being hurt, but when they were on the field they produced, each in their own different way.

  It's Goff I'm a bit concerned about.
