Oakland has averaged much higher in points scored than they did against the Rams.
Cards are somewhat hapless, but they have scored against other teams, when they didn't against LA.
Chargers? Same story, better scoring against their other opponents than against the Rams.
I just can't go with the analysis that the offense is going to have to always score 30+ because our defense can't stop anybody.
And that's not to say that the offense CAN'T score 30 upon demand.
I guess we'll see.
Well I didn't say they can't stop anyone.
I just don't buy that as is, they are really a 5th ranked defense in terms of points against.
I think they have to change and improve for that to happen. Which I don't rule out.
When it comes to defenses, I don't believe in outliers. I think a good opponent sees film and finds weaknesses and gameplans you to take advantage. I believe a defense gives up 30 if that CAN happen to it facing a good offense, if that makes any sense.
I also think Oakland fell apart in that game, and that wasn't just the Rams, it was part them, and that Arz needed the qb change. They scored 6 points total in their first 2 games, and in the last 2 averaged 15.5 per game.
I don';t know which theory will be backed by the games against Seattle and Denver though, which aren't big points producing machines either.
