McVay showed that as long as he's got players who HE believes will get up to speed in the first few games...
he won't play starters. I think that really sets up some interesting situations for rookies & UDFAs getting a HUGE amount of playing time in the PS...
which would really allow coaches to get a real good view of their rookie players. I think that, in turn, our depth will get really good.
Best of all...we don't lose starting players to injuries in meaningless games.
I had no problem losing our starting CBs to injury in a game that mattered.
Just imagine if we lost them for a PS game...UGH!!!!!!!!
Anyway, I'm all for the McVayWay of PS football...maximizing rookie playing time and NOT playing any starters at all.
Yeah, I think that McVay has won the “resting starters in PS” argument, Sun. He’s won me over, anyway.
The Raider schedule thing was probably a big factor, but still...
Now, about that going for 2 on points-after thing? He did say that he was gonna think about it. But with THIS O, it does have some merit, I think.
