You are in a similar down and distance as you were last season and its a critical play. Do you call the same defense which was successful in stoping the Rams last year or do you change it up? McVay will be in Goff's ear as the team rushes to the line. You know that McVay already knows what you called last year and the result. You know he studied the play to see why it was not successful. Do you call a different defense? Can you disguise it? Coach McVay will have time to look over the defensive as the Rams get to the line quickly. Only one moment in a game of smash mouth chess, one where your opponent has a huge advantage!
McVay is in your head, all week preparing you're second guessing your game plan, you're working on disguising your defenses and you know that during the game Coach McVay will have the historical information in his head with quick recall to adjust and beat you to the punch. McVay is in your head. (Repeat as the voice gets louder and louder).
