I've watched the replay. Over and over. Donald engages Osemele like an initial bull rush, then when Ose pushes back, Donald suddenly steps to the side and uses Ose's own momentum to throw him down to Donald's right, leaving an open lane to the QB.

In desperation, Osemele reaches back and uses his right arm to trip Donald, sending him to the turf right at Carr's feet.

At that point, Donald grabs Carr's shins. He doesn't really HIT him so much as just grab him low.

This is all Bang-Bang action, of course, it doesn't happen in slow motion.

It would be interesting to view the replay with the official and ask "Ok, so what SHOULD this dlineman do in this situation? Does he need to stand back up, in place, without making any contact with the QB, and THEN he can proceed to tackle him?"

I understand what the rule is trying to do, but it goes against every instinct that these guys have been learning since they were peewee football players.

I guess, as long as they call it consistently, we can't complain.

Anyone want to lay odds on them doing that?
