and yes, at times, statistics do lie.
But...I wonder what the comeback percentage is for a "normal" QB?
And, since the Packers tend to be winners, they always are playing a 1st place schedule...worst case second place.
Anyway, I've always said if there was one QB I would want to have the ball on the last drive of the game, it would be Rodgers. Your analysis reaffirms my opinion.
I would think comeback percentages for normal QBs would be lower in playoff games when the stakes are high, pressure is higher, and defenses are better on average. Thats why I focused on Rodgers playoff performances.
My thought is that if a QB is good in the clutch in the playoffs that trumps the regular season.
Another thought on Rodgers bad luck in the playoffs is coaching. John Paulson, who is a big Packer fan and football analyst hates McCarthy. He said McCarthy is terrible at game management. I haven't looked at this closely, but the fact that in 3 out of 5 of Rodgers last playoff games he never got the ball back may say something about McCarthy proficency as a game manager/head coach. The point here is that Rodgers may be getting a bum rap in large part because of McCarthy.
