Don't you think Sammy or his agent told the Rams what KC offered so maybe they could offer him more? By not offering more than KC, it's obvious to me that they had a price limit.

Ok, when I read the term price limit in the context that max posted it, I was thinking more along the lines of the Rams saying, We value Watkins at $14M, Cooks though if he were hypothetically available we would go up to $17M. I don't think there was anything like that.

The way you're using price limit, yeah, there came a point where they were outbid and they decided not to go that high. So in that sense, there is a limit.

What I was suggesting though is that the jump in prices for #1 WRs possibly surprised them, they got blown out by KC's offer without a ton of time to process, and then once they saw all WRs were signing in the $16M range, realized the market was higher than the range they thought and internally reset their willingness on how high they would go for the position when Cooks became available.
