About the Aaron Donald contract negotiations.
Last year it was reported several times that a mutual agreement was very close and that the discussions were cordial and productive. The result was no contract.
This year it has been reported several times that a mutual agreement is very close and that the discussions are cordial and productive, yet still there is no contract.
To his credit, Demoff finally admitted that the Rams and Donald's team did not agree on value. But my question is what changed? How did the situation go from one in which a signing appeared imminent to one where there was a disagreement about Donald's value?
These circumstances make me think that the information the front office is giving to the public is deliberately misleading.
I just can't figure out why they would feel compelled to do it.
I think Demoff said it all when he said "we see Donald at a different value than his agents do"
Both sides have been pretttyngood about keeping things cordial and private for the most part.
I think if the Rams offer was truly insulting it would have been leaked by now to the media
I believe that the Rams would LOVE to have Donald in camp and on the field, BUT they are far from desperate to have those things.
They have a number( which by most accounts is highest paid defensive player money) and they aren't going to budge.... Donald will cave before the Rams do, just like he did last year.
Probably miss a couple games and the Rams will win both of them with or without him.
