Yeah yeah yeah I know most of you are worshipping at the alter of McVay right now but I do have a couple of concerns about him
Lets change this party up a bit shall we?
The Rams didn’t place very well when it came to redzone efficiency. Ranking 17th in the NFL last year

It is astonishing that they still finished 1st in scoring with a percentage like that and some of that can be contributed to defensive and STs scores.
In any case, lots of room for improvement for McVay in this category. A quick browse to 2016 shows that McVays Skin’s offense was even worse in 2016. So while maturation of the QB and development of the TEs can be expected and should help here... I believe this issue is not just personnel. I believe its McVay and personality.
Back - to the Rams having too many weapons. I worry that McVay like Martz years ago tries to get too cute and rather than pounding home 3 or 4 things that the offense does well has too many toys and gets distracted. There are many examples from last year. Maybe his offensive philosophy is flawed a bit in that regard or perhaps he like a player needs additional time to develop?
For the record I love the guy but I want to see him evolve... I’d like to see him scale back on spreading the ball around and really find who his go to guys are. IMO that could be the difference between being a playoff team and being a Championship team.
What say you? Lets take a critical look at our Rams offense.
FIRE MCVAY!!!
Just kidding Speed. Good post and finally a topic that's not about AD's contract.
I do think you have a point about the red zone offense. It was evident we struggled there last year and McVay knows it as well. He himself has said that he needs to get better calling plays in the red zone. I think having a couple of go to guys you can rely on down there would be better than always trying to get too cute and change it up all the time.
Due to the fact that McVay has already acknowledged this, I predict we'll be improved in the red zone. How much? I have no idea but any improvement is good.
