I saw a piece on SportsCenter about Sam Darnold not signing his rookie deal yet. And I wondered who his agent was.
Sam is represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA).
The only other first round pick who has not signed yet is Roquan Smith. I was not surprised to see that he is also represented by CAA.
And in what might not be a coincidence ... Aaron Donald's agent, Todd France, also works for CAA.
p.s. remember Joey Bosa's protracted negotiations last year? Also a Todd France client.
Just focusing on one thing at a time, there;s a lot of misconceptions about Bosa's contract issues.
That all comes up in another thread today:

Misconceptions about Bosa's contract aside, Albany's point about all of these holdouts being clients of the same agency is noteworthy.
I don't know what the real issues are in those other situations.
For all I know the issue falls more on the team. Until we know details it's leaping to conclusions.
For example, if the Rams hold steady at 21 M for Donald, that's low. To just automatically blame that on the agent is not illuminating to me.
Without details things like this have the danger of becoming mere scapegoating.
....
....
The hold up is offset language.
"The Jets want offset language in the contract so they can recoup some of the guaranteed money in the contract if Darnold is cut and joins another team before the end of his rookie deal. Darnold and his agent do not want the offset language in the deal."

According to Fox's Doug Gottlieb, who is also represented by CAA, the offset is completely irrelevant and has never been a sticking point in any contract outside of head coaches. Doug says that the chances of the offset terms applying to it's players are 0. Doug claims that Sam Darnald and all of the rookies that CAA is holding out due to the offset agreement are being used as pawns by it's representatives who are trying to make a name for themselves by challenging typical NFL contracts.
Remember, Doug is represented by CAA and was speaking in high praise about their ability to find holes in contracts and pathfind contracts but he says that he does not agree with it.
The exact same situation existed with Bosa and the Chargers.
The issue with Bosa wasn't the off-set, it was a combination of 2 things--when the bonus gets paid out and then the off-set. Bosa's camp said that you can have one or another and not both. In the end, they settled for getting the bonus earlier and not later, then giving the Chargers the offset.
So it has come up before.
