Everyone has their own opinion, and mine is that $21M is not a low ball offer.
"Lowball" to me means significantly under what is fair that year. 21 M isn't lowball, but it IS low. I said I have good reasons for saying that and I do.
IF they tag him next year, the tag amount for DTs is 15 M. Compared to the 21-25 range they're in right now, THAT is a lowball.
But tags aside. On my reasons for saying 21 M is low. It doesn't match what you should expect from a contract that is supposed to be in the same category with Von Miller's 2016 19 M deal. According to the normal range of annual increases on 2nd contracts, that should be more like 24 M. 21 M in 2018 means at best a 5% increase a year, and no other position has ever been that low. It should be around 12% a year, which compared to 2016 would make it around 24 M in 2018,
As I said, no other position has seen that low an increase.
So yeah according to a comparison with how other 2nd contracts work, it's low.
