The previous discussion was about whether TG would be worth an extension after his 5th year (which is 2019). By then he would be closer to his decline years AND cost more.
By getting it done NOW they kind of shortcut those problems.
I had asked, is a back worth 16 M? Well apparently the Rams think a back of his caliber is worth 15 M.
But the fact that they did it NOW and not later makes it a sounder move IMO.
