Blame for Watkins failure with the Rams to me comes down to both:

Watkins himself

I don't believe he takes care of himself and he isn't a student of the game. I can't prove it, but I believe is "Fun" time away from football is more important than the game. He never seems prepared, can't judge a deep ball, and doesn't appear to work well with teammates.

Coaching Staff

The coaching staff completely misused Watkins when they have him running deep patterns over and over. His strength is the short passing game, using his great hands and strength to catch in tight windows, and run after the catch bouncing off defenders with his strength. The Rams did him a great injustice just running him deep down the field over and over.

I believe he may bounce back this year. We will see. I thought his first 2 years in Buffalo averaging 1000 yards per year on such a bad offensive team was a great accomplishment. Than the foot injury. and than a bad season with the Rams.
