He got the team off the mat, but just couldn't get them over the hump.... he left McVay with some pretty talented young players.
Fisher was far from the worst thing to happen to the Rams in the last ten years imo.
Fisher was a decent coach that had some very good years with the Titans. Decent doesn't equate to elite and as you mentioned, had he not been kept as the Rams coach for as long as he did, Sean McVay would not be the our head coach.
Best mistake the Rams ever made was keeping Fisher for as long as they did.
