Yeah I guess they did both things. The way I read it originally I thought the 2 choices were mutually exclusive.

So what this sounds like to me is that Donald and the Rams exercised an option to re-negotiate at 3 years, which they did, and also the Rams exercised their right to a 5th year.
So I don't see why this is a bad look for just the Rams. They couldn't get a deal done after 3 years and we don't know what was offered or what was asked.
I still see the same advantages and disadvantages that I mentioned before. I don't see that 3rd year thing making much of a difference to how the Rams look to anyone.
They need to get Donald signed, just like the Raiders, and Giants, and Cowboys and others will get their guys signed.
