I'm very interested in this third year option, I can't find anything about it on google, or in any article referencing Frederick of the Cowboys and his new contract. It was my understanding that the rookie contract structure was in place to allow teams to keep control of first round prospects for as long as possible with little to no financial risk if they do not pan out. Aaron Donald held out, which is his best if not only leverage in order to get a bigger contract earlier. The Rams offered something, presumably at some sort of "your getting a new contract early" discount, and he wanted to be paid as the highest defensive player in the league. Both respectable positions. He deserves to be paid as the best player, and they deserve a discount for re upping it early. I have zero problem with either position.
