The old "they know what they are getting into" since Eve gave Adam an apple and a football. My point is about fans because I firmly believe that if studies proved CTE was prevalent in most all players and their brains were degenerating rapidly to the point that football was in danger of being outlawed-we all would be in uproar about losing a sport we have come to love. And we would make the "but they know what they are getting into argument". These guys out on the field are like video game players to us and not real live folks who live and die like all of us. I guess my concern is -what does it say about us -and I include myself. Maybe its because we don't "know" these guys like we do family, neighbors, etc so their safety and health take second place to our lure for a violent game-much like our lure to violence in entertainment. How many of us watch a live car chase on our TV just waiting for the big "crash". I do and I'm always disappointed when it comes to a quiet end. What does that say about me.?
