concussions will continue. It has IMO very little to do with equipment.....a concussion is due to blunt trauma to the head/ neck area...hence it's not equipment it's the fact that players are leading with their head.. IMO again to end this is to make it a major loss to the players who do it (by accident or however)....6 game suspension...no questions asks....bottom line.
Let me see if this hit is stopped because the players simply will not have the chance to do it (for at least 6 games anyway).
Go ahead and change the KO deal...change where they start at or whatever....it does nothing about the actual action that causes the concussions....Make a penalty so hard on the players that they grasp the deal....
These guys who play Special teams are there as a beginning of their career...if you just take them out by way of no KO's they are out...if you just adjust the situation so it's less available to happen....either way they are still not hitting in the proper manner to make players more safe.
IMO it's simple you mess up and hit a guy wrong you are out of the games for 6 weeks...if these guys love the game and want to be in the game they will adjust the way they hit.
IMO this is about how players hit other players...it's not about a KO play....it's about how they hit....6 games out will bring them around...not changing the way a KO is done...or eliminating the KO for that matter.
