To refine that a bit more:
It's more difficult for the Rams to find their field-stretching receiver, who can also run sweeps, be an end-zone threat, and go over the middle if needbe. Sammy could do all of those things, and wasn't utilized nearly enough in the rent-a-year they had him.
Joyner is a tough kid, and a good player, but I think the Rams could have found his equal or upgraded the position for a heck of a lot less than it cost them to get Cooks. Joyner is also three years older than Sammy.
All water under the bridge, over the dam, spilt milk, moot, etc. etc. But I do think it was the wrong decision. They'll be fine, regardless.
