Not to try to dissuade or argue as this is just an observation. In the first still it looks like there are only two out on a route so it's no surprise that SW is drawing all that coverage, and both receivers are fairly close to each other. In the second still, I can't tell who it is but another receiver comes out in the flat and a LB covers him.
So is this a fair example of SW drawing extra coverage? Again, not an argument, just an honest question. I appreciate all of your "stills" work B&G and also your knowledge of the game.
It's the parameters set by Benoit. It was a 3x1 formation and it was late in season and it was Watkins drawing extra coverage
as opposed to Kupp, who draws single coverage.
As far as two-man route, here is the link Baldy talks about [
www.rams-news.com]
Baldy is talking about Watkins drawing extra attention and most of the examples are two-man routes, max protection and he praises Watkins's ability to draaw double coverage, he calls it the "Speedo" concept which is a post/over route combination and it's a 2 man reout concept, with the back leaking out late,
In the one I picked with the triple coverage it was one that fit with what Benoit and Baldy were talking about in their comments, which you can listen to.
If it were 4 or 5-man routes, there are plenty of examples, I didn't pick them, I skipped them because I wanted to be accurate.
