but what a bargain now...

I don't know if the list is outdated, but Overthecap.com is the source and I bet they are more up to date and anyone, it's got Suh on there and that is recent

[overthecap.com]

Of course the list is from overthecap...I recognize it from there. Anyway I didn't say the list is outdated, I said the top contract is. The list is accurate. What doesn't work is to claim the top contracts on that list reflect the market in 2018.

That's 3 years ago. Cox signed that contract in 2016. Even then it was below the 19 M a year Suh got in 2015, The market for 2nd contracts at any position goes up, so you can look at it as Donald in 2018 being 3 years away from Cox's deal and 4 years away from Suh's deal.

And either way it is not established that Donald gets money in line with 2nd contracts for DTs. He can also be considered as one of the 2-3 top defensive players in the league, regardless of position. In which case the relevant deal is the one Von Miller signed in 2016 for 19 M. If it is viewed that way, 3 years after Von Miller, Donald should be getting more than 19 M.

....

No, you did say the "list is outdated"..."But I do know this. That list above is outdated. Fletcher Cox, who while good is not Donald, signing a contract 3 years ago (that was less than Suh's 19 M) isn't relevant to Donald and 2018." Maybe you just typed it wrong. smiling smiley

That list shows what they are being paid as of today and is irrelevant to when they were signed. Which is what B+G was trying to point out (I think). I do agree AD should be on the top of that list IF the Rams feel he is worth it in Wade's system. Keep in mind that "if" other teams "over pay" for a player and therefore set the "market" unjustly doesn't meant all teams have to "beat" that overpaid contract. Is Fletcher Cox really worth all that money? Was Suh worth all that money? I am not sure.

I also think they offered a fair contract but the issue is "structure" as has been speculated previously. I also think we all agree..we just don't know the details to make an accurate decision on why he is not already signed. As you said, it could go both ways. smiling smiley

#HelmetHornsMatter

“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.

“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
