No one is going to trade for Tavon before March 16. He's due a guaranteed $5M roster bonus on that date and whoever has him has to pay him. He will be on the Rams until at least that date.
After that the Rams can cut or trade him any time before the first regular season game and save $3M against the cap.
It's the same amount on August 31 as it would be on March 17. If someone come calling the Rams will trade him. If the Rams want to be nice to Tavon they will cut him after March 16 so he can hook up with another team ... but it will cost them nothing extra to hang on to him thru preaseason.
