Sammy has a career average of 58.7 yards per game with injury history.... We can't pay him based on his potential.... sadly someone probably will, but it won't be the Rams.
Truth is he is a tier 2 WR based on his career stats.
I completely understand there is more to it then pure stats, but it is what it is.
No way would I offer more then $11 million per. Maybe do a 4 year $44mil with a healthy chunk of G money..... where he can get a very lucrative 3rd contract by the time he is only 28 years old.
It's a negotiation. Agent starts high, the Rams start low, you end up at $11.84M.
On the career average of 58.7 yards per game bullet point....
- DeVante Adams has a career average of 47.64 yards per game
- Randall Cobb had a career average of 58.63 yards per game in the 4 years prior to signing his contract
- Doug Baldwin had a career average of 59.38 yards per game in the 4 years prior to signing his contract
- Kenny Stills had a career average of 36.44 yards per game in the 4 years prior to signing his contract. He got Woods money. See why Watkins is not in that tier?
It is a myth that Watkins has had no production and would be paid on potential.

Rams would have a good laugh if the agent opens up with that number.....
To me he falls somewhere in between the Crabtree($8.5M per) and Alshon($13M per) so $11.8 is doable IMO.
I just don't think McVay's offense is dependent on either the XY or Z and is why they probably won't go much over $11m per for Sammy.
Hopefully he stands by his word and isn't "all about the money" and just wants to win and be happy....We will win and I think he is happy here.
