I agree. That $6.9M number on the books for 2018 already is overlooked and can be leveraged. Pay him even more than what you propose this coming season (say $12-13M) and soften 2019-2021 a bit more. You want this contract kicked in now when he is playing in his prime and the guaranteed money paid by the time he's 30 and also getting as much of it out of the way as possible before you're faced with an extension for Goff. Hall of Fame player. Pay him. It is not going to hinder them.
