For all the interesting talk about position needs, free agents, etc. I think ultimately the Rams ability to improve or maintain their success next year is based on Goff's development as a QB- and McVay's as a HC. Goff made tremendous strides in year two- to the credit of him and the offensive staff.
In Kirk Cousins' 2nd year under McVay in DC he improved his QB rating by 15 points (86.4 to 101.6). Now I doubt Goff tacks on 15 points to his 100.5 rating. But there is every reason to think an offseason focused on improving the nuances of their offense, his mechanics, etc. vs. having to digest a brand new offense can make him an even better QB.
McVay will also learn as a HC. He was fantastic this year and taking over and rebuilding the cultural mess in Thousand Oaks and installing a dynamic offense was an amazing feat. But obviously he can and will learn where he can lead, communicate, organize, call plays, etc. even better.
Build around those two for the long haul. Having a quality HC and QB puts them ahead of 2/3 of the league right away. Add on the league's best RB, best defensive player, best punter/kicker duo, best ST coach, and the holes are not quite what some may think.
This coaching staff is lauded as teachers. So part of the holes will be filled by coaching up younger players into bigger, expanded roles. To me that is players like Kupp, Everett, Reynolds, Smart, Ebukam, Longacre, Hill, etc.
