That's not all his problem .
Yes he had playbook problems I think there was more to it than that though.
They didn't set up many plays with him as the primary in the shorter zones .
I believe he almost was surprised when Goff threw him the ball many times this season outside of the goal line stack plays .
Right now he can't be sure the Rams want to invest in him at a competitive wage.
There may be some Marshawn Lynch type rumblings around the league about limiting Sammy's targets so as to not have numbers big enough guarantee a very good payday inside or outside the organisation.
Sammy might sense something wasn't right and move to a offer with the hope another team will stand behind that investment and at least throw him a couple of slants and drag patterns a game besides a couple nine routes .
Allowing him the stature he wants in the NFL which is not guaranteed with the Rams behind Woods and Kupp.
The more I think about it from his perspective the angrier I get .
Something wasn't right .
You'd almost have to avoid throwing to him on purpose.
Third fiddle or Fifth violin if you count Goff and Gurley .
Dammit he may not be back .
Last week in one of the articles about the Rams they had their little extra tidbits at the end of it which most people don't read or even glance over.
They asked a few players what their New Years resolution was?
Sammy said he "wants to learn how to read better and start reading books" or something to that affect.
Thought that was kinda revealing a bit.... it seems Sammy might be having a hard time digesting this offense and may be why he is not getting the targets you would think he would be getting by now???
