That bothered me ... I think it highlighted a serious blind spot in McVay
its a concern that McVay simply has no patience with the run game... even when its working
That IMO is his flaw and it will end up costing him if he doesn’t change it and soon
Are you paranoid Speed?
The way McVay called the 2 games prior to this week 17 preseason game vs the 49ers is probably more indicative of how McVay calls games going foward.
As you well know, the score, field position, flow of a game and what the defense gives can often times re-direct the play calling from the original game plan.
Too many factors are involved when calling a game and unless you're in the film room with the McVay and his offensive staff while they're devising the game plan, calling plays live from your living room is not the same and never will be as it is in the NFL world.
How McVay called and managed a meaningless 49er game.
(after he committed to benching his stars)Resting key starters and losing momentum.
The regular season struggles in the redzone.
Whats better? the 3rd seed or the 4th seed so they can have the safest/softest path in the playoffs.
The kicker Mr. Ficken.
The run defense.
Troy Hill or Kevin Peterson and list goes on and on.....
The Rams are not the favorites to win the Super Bowl for a reason.
They clearly have their flaws and weaknesses that can more easily be exploited in the playoffs. Everyone knows this that has watched them closely all season.
They are however thought of by some, more than talented enough to hoist the Lombardi if they play the way they're capable of for the next 4 games. A very tough task for such a young team led by a rookie head coach.
Seems to be lot's of paranoid over analyzing Rams fans concerned about this magical team that wears the white curled horns on their helmets.
This team has been the feel good Hollywood story of the NFL season.
There will be no excuses or pouting from this fan however the story ends. I will be as sad as any should it end quickly, or I will be just as elated as the most loyal and faithful if it's a fairy-tale happy ending.
Feels like a lot of folks are preparing themselves in case the Rams have a melt down next week or the following weeks for when and if
Cinderella's clock quickly strikes midnight.
