Gurley's biggest issue was Fisher.
If that were true then 2015 would not have happened.
He was not the same back in 2016. That was visible. And a long list of analysts saw it too. In the 2017 he dedicated himself to making up for it.

I agree that Gurley wasn't the same back in 2016 and a lot of that was on him. I was one of those saying that last year.
But Gurley also said towards the end of the year that the offense was a "middle school offense." That's something a very frustrated player who doesn't have much belief in the coaching or scheme would say.
I'm wondering if Gurley was checked out a bit mentally and emotionally from the very beginning of the year.
That was another bad moment for Gurley, when he blamed his own troubles on others. I assume he outgrew it. Recently, he was reminded of that comment, and insisted that he was talking about how the offensive players performed. Regardless how anyone interprets that comment, and I think he was talking about execution, it's deflection and blame-gaming. Steven Jackson ran behind far worse lines in far worse conditions and he never blamed anyone for anything, he just produced. I think Gurley may have grown up from that frustrating moment and I doubt we ever hear anything like that from him again, regardless of the circumstances.
Watch 12 plays in a row of Gurley last year and the same for this year. He was just plain simply not the same back last year.
