Actually Shaw was quite competent

Very well respected by the NFL. Sat in and headed many committees during his reign. Knows the business inside and out. As alluded to herein Georgia was ill, and comparatively poor with respect to all the other owners. She hired Shaw to run a pro football team in a way that her children and their children would be financially protected. He did that with great competence. At one time Jerry Jones called him the smartest guy in the game. He probably was. But given the financial constraints he was unable to put together the right chess pieces and we the fans suffered. In retrospect maybe Georgia should have sold the team and who knows why she didn't. But by not doing so Shaw was able to mass a decent estate for the children.
