Imo ... it's imperative that Watkins is re-signed. If he's not ... I can easily imagine a scenario in which there is a backslide next year.
They need to re-sign him, and he's still young (24).
Tavon is extremely quick. But he's not really a deep threat -- for three reasons, basically. He doesn't have good hands. Doesn't run good routes. And he doesn't have "long speed." He ran an 11.47 100 meters. Sammy ran a 10.4, I believe. Gurley ran something like a 10.6.
Of course, college and the NFL tend to knock the speed out of players over time, and/or their relative weight gains impact this, etc. etc. But, starting from the same baseline of when these guys actually ran track . . . . it wasn't close.
