What they forget...and I mean a lot...
Experience
Brains
Success for more than a year
It wasn't like he was Orlando Pace who played 4 years at Ohio St and proved he was a stud over more than one season. Robinson was drafted soley on the dreaded "upside" approach. We needed an impact player immediately...Fisher and Snead went with "the future"...a future that never materialized.
I think the thing that really got to me was the news that Robinson blocked for basically six plays in his career at Auburn...plus he really only became a name his final year. I think that is why he couldn't cut it in the league. He would have a blitzer right over his head and he would inexplicably block down or block no one. How many times did we see that?
But...that said...I just don't see the value at using a top 5 pick on an OL. There are just too many good OL in the league drafted in the mid rounds. The Rams wised up and fixed the problem this year at left tackle. Now they should draft a guy that can develop into a LT over the next few years, once Whitworth retires.
