Look. The Union is NOT arguing that Goodell is violating the law or the contract. They are arguing that the contract provision is not fair and just, and the process is not fair, and it is not right that Goodell should have such power.

This has already been litigated at a high level before (just under the Supreme Court) and the decision was exactly as I said: the contract is the contract and clearly Goodell is but following the terms of the contract. Fairness and Justice, per se, play no role. The issue is the law.

Sure, contracts can be litigated. But they are to be litigated based on legal statutes; not on personal views of fairness. One prime example is non-disclosure agreements whereby a party agrees not to divulge certain information. A Judge can only override that if the matter in question is criminal or illegal; not because it was stupid for the person to sign it and now they wish they hadn't.

I am not a lawyer. But I have had to deal with many issues like this over the course of my career. It is only been made difficult because Goodell is such a weak kneed weanie and won't stand his ground.
