Right now the Rams only have 39 players under contract for next season so they have 14 empty slots to fill before they have to worry about TA. That's a lot of turnover without thinking about getting rid of any of those 39 players - more than 25% of the team!
But if they do let go of someone who is under contract next year I bet Quinn goes before TA does. That would free up a roster spot plus over $11M in cap space.
We agree that Quinn might be on very thin ice, AlbaNY.
But what I meant about Tavon’s roster slot is how he stacks up as a weapon in McVay’s ‘18 O. IOW, Quinn is a D cutdown/trade decision whereas Tavon is an O cutdown/trade decision.
What if it’s determined that there are multiple better running threats than Tavon? And heaven knows that he’s already our 7th best WR threat. Plus he’s lost his job as a PR.
I think it could happen that McVay simply prefers another and better RB or gadget player that is more “neck up” than Tavon. And he might just need Tavon’s roster spot in order to keep the better player?
I’ve noticed that McVay has no problem making the tough personnel decisions if he feels he can improve the roster.
It’s McVay’s decision and I’ll support whatever he decides. But I could easily see where Tavon might become odd man out.
Just spitballin’ here with you, of course.
