Goff is throwing balls to allow for RAC

October 22, 2017 03:25PM
If he were only trying to hit stationary targets a staple in the Fisher era I would be concerned.

These are young receivers that are practicing against friendlies. The game is another beast.

No QB is throwing perfect strikes all the time.

I see WRs catch back shoulder passes and get tackled only to read someone state the pass was under thrown or could have got their sooner or the trajectory was a little off. Great catch by the WR.

It comes down to context. What was the intent.

The INT today was really the fruit of a PI but will go down as a INT no big debate right?

McVay suggested the situation or play call may not have been idea for avoiding that result regardless of PI.

Context is everything. Is a receiver being blown off his route a tad or force into a undisciplined angle to where the ball is to be thrown in a timing situation? Do we always know. Is the QB rushed or needing to get rid of the ball a bit early or unable to get set to better aim. There is a reason a receiver has arms and hands and not a net or bucket attached.

Yes it is accuracy that is important but we have seen enough elite type accuracy from Goff and more established stars to recognize that many of their greatest outcomes are not based purely on accuracy, zip and perfection but cultivated chemistry and effort and execution coupled with opportunism.

I am not too concerned about Goff or Kupp in their development. The man crush many have for Kupp is based on his collegiate small college success and his character and yes his draft position. He certainly has intangibles but not all of the measurable traits which also might be necessary and certainly could aid a QB. Hard to think that Goff has more of an obligation to work around Kupp then Kupp has an obligation to measure up when the ball is in his catch radius.

I have confidence in both. I just think Goff and McVay will find that a little less attention to Kupp will serve all parties and the team better in the long run. There is no point to prove.
