Its funny when the QB throws a pass and the receiver handles it but tips it away it is an INT thrown by QB (sometimes) I guess the ball is way too high, a tad behind, too hot, etc but for me with that said "a drop is a drop". I love Kupp but do not think he should be force fed the ball as much as he is at times but its the TDs like today that justify the targets. Its the crucial chain movers and that gets you to where the drops are drops but he has earned the attention. Kupp is a bonafide NFL WR and should be featured and schemed into the flow of the game, but perhaps not always the primary option.
Woods falls into that bonafide category too and I really cannot complain. I can tolerate a rare drop and live with it if it is not a game losing trend or momentum killer where QB confidence becomes an issue. Goff gets full credit for throwing to Kupp whether good or bad outcome. That does not mean I would give Kupp a pass on every bad outcome.
Goff on the other hand deserves as much respect as we give Kupp and to defend Kupps drops to blame Goff or trifle to de-emphasize blame would be ridiculous because without Goff's confidence in him and targets Kupp is just a rookie with a reputation in college. Kupp has had enough drops now to give pause given our talented WR/TE for Goff to justify breaking trend and tendencies to look for him especially if it is close or he is going to be little late or the separation is not there which has been the case in the most noted drops.
The great ones will drop passes but great QBs don't quit on them. Not this soon anyway and not with the yield we have seen so far. I chalk it to growing pains and development. Right now they both are growing together.
